Former councillor takes on MLA over poor waste management in city

Times News Network Ludhiana: Ahead of MC elections, former councillor of the Congress, Mamta Ashu expressed concern about poor solid waste management at one of the secondary garbage collection points in Jawahar Nagar camp. In an online post, she targeted MLA Gurpreet Gogi . After passing by the compactor site, which has heaps of garbage, the former councillor posted a photo of the compactor site near Midha Chowk on her social media page.

Taking a dig at MLA Gurpreet Gogi, she wrote, “MLA says that my men will get the work done. What about the commissioner sahab? ‘Safai Abhiyan te vi rajniti havi” (Politics even dominates the cleanliness campaign). Claiming that the sanitation system in the city had collapsed, she alleged that MC officials were not working to their capacity due to political pressure.



She said that city residents had to bear the brunt of such circumstances and alleged that the machinery of the municipal corporation was being misused by AAP. MLA Gogi claimed he did not know about any such social media post as he was busy working in the constituency. He said he had already asked officials concerned to pay attention towards scattered garbage collection points where issues were being reported.
