The 2024 regular season is not over yet, but some college football programs have already fired their head coaches. Six head coaches had been fired from their programs heading into Saturday. So far this season, programs like Utah State, Southern Miss, Ball State, East Carolina, and Rice have all fired their head coaches.

Ball State was the most recent school to fire its head coach, Mike Neu, after an overtime loss in its last game to drop to 3-7. Kennesaw State fired head coach Brian Bohannon after losing to UTEP in double overtime 43-35 in its last game. Bohannon had been with the Owls since 2015 and had a coaching record of 72-38.

Former co-offensive coordinator Chandler Burks is the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Kennesaw State moved from the FCS to the FBS level this offseason, joining Conference USA to give the conference 10 members. He took Kennesaw State to the Division I FCS Playoffs four times from 2017-19 and in 2021.

Bohannon reached the quarterfinal round from 2017-18 and the second round of the playoffs in 2019 and 2021. Katie Stratman-Imagn Images Although Bohannon is no longer with the program, he still made an effort to make an impact on his players on Saturday, six days after the firing. The Owls faced Sam Houston in Kennesaw, Georgia, and Bohannon greeted the players before the game.

In a video posted by On3 Sports on X, Bohannon was seen hugging the players and shaking their hands as they arrived. Brian Bohannon greets the Kennesaw State team pregame days after being fired❤️ (via @JoeyStone_8 ) https://t.co/u1dwfA6SjO pic.
