As if the Chicago Bears needed another reason to believe their franchise was cursed, a new statistic emerged. On the heels of their own kicker having a 46-yard field goal blocked to lose a game against their division rivals wasn't enough, former Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro, who now plays for the Carolina Panthers , became the most accurate kicker in NFL history. LEGENDARY: Carolina #Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro is now the MOST ACCURATE KICKER IN #NFL HISTORY.

Pineiro hits 89.38% percent of his kicks. pic.

twitter.com/uHWoIKnQcE Due to Justin Tucker's atrocious day in Pittsburgh, Pineiro overtook the Baltimore Ravens' kicker for the best field-goal percentage. Pineiro said he's enjoying the moment and used to wonder if he'd get another chance to be a starter after his first season in Chicago in 2019 .

He played in just five games over the next two seasons before an injury opened the door for him in 2021, and he's hit 90.9% of his field goals since (70/77). While Cario Santos has been reliable from close range, his lack of leg strength is an issue that has arisen throughout his tenure with the Bears.

Like everything else this season, it's another instance of thinking "what if" for Bears fans. This article first appeared on On Tap Sports Net and was syndicated with permission..
