DAILY POST gathered that Gumau died on Saturday night in Abuja after a brief illness. His death was confirmed by his former aide, Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad, Saturday morning.
The late senator will be buried on Saturday in Abuja. Gumau first assumed office in 2018 after winning a bye-election following the death of Senator Ali Wakili. He was later re-elected in the 2019 general elections, serving until 2023.
However, his bid to return to the Senate in the 2023 election was unsuccessful. Before his tenure in the Senate, Gumau served two consecutive terms in the House of Representatives, representing Toro Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2018.
