Former Bantams duo both sent off in dramatic draw

DEREK Adams and former City defender Luke Hendrie were both sent off for bottom club Morecambe at the weekend. But the Shrimps still came back from two down with 10 men to snatch a 3-3 draw with Colchester. Ex-Bantams boss Adams was sent to the stands after just 24 minutes for a second yellow card.

Hendrie, who was released from Valley Parade at the end of last season, joined him just before half-time with a second booking in the space of five minutes following a rash tackle. It was the right back’s first red card for eight years. Morecambe, though, managed to fight back late on with a Callum Jones penalty and deflected equaliser from Marcus Dackers to earn their first point of the season.



It was also their first league goals after a run of five consecutive 1-0 defeats – the first Football League club in history to start like that. Assistant boss Danny Grainger said: “It is a special group who work so hard every day and they deserved that point. “We have been the better team in a lot of games we have played this season and not had our rewards.

” Adams remains confident that Morecambe will pick up. Speaking before the game, he said: “I have managed teams in more than 700 games and I know this team is a good side. “They work hard.
