Former Aberdeen and Hamilton star Lewis Ferguson signs new deal at Bologna

The 25-year-old is back after a long-term injury and has received a boost by penning a contract extension with the Italian outfit

The Hamilton man and former Hamilton Accies star joined the Italian outfit in 2022 and has become a huge success on the continent, landing the club captaincy last season. And now he has penned a new deal at the club with an option of a further year. The Scotland international netted six goals and claimed five assists last season before a knee injury in April curtailed his season and ruled him out of representing his country at Euro 2024 in Germany.



But he did help the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time and he earned the prestigious Bulgarelli Number 8 Award for Serie A's best midfielder, an accolade won by the likes of Andrea Pirlo in the past. The 25-year-old is now back in action for Bologna and has featured twice for the club since his return from injury. Announcing his new deal on Friday, a club statement read: "Bologna Fc 1909 announces that it has reached an agreement with midfielder Lewis Ferguson for the extension of his contract until 30 June 2028, with the option for a further season.
