The Ochoco National Forest is offering the public an opportunity to snowshoe with a Forest Service ranger at the Walton Lake Recreation Area. Snowshoers will be given a guided tour of the area with information about local wildlife and forest ecology. The event will take place Dec.
21 at 11 a.m. After the snowshoe walk, complimentary beverages will be served by a fire.
The Forest Service advises participants to bring their own snowshoes if possible. A limited number will be available to borrow, but participants should call ahead to reserve a pair. Wear warm clothing and sturdy boots for the hike and bring some snacks and water.
