Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary reviews poll preparations in Dhubri district

Our Correspondent Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, in his first round of panchayat poll review meetings, held a series of discussions with party workers and addressed a press meet with local media at the BJP district office on Tuesday. Speaking on the seat-sharing arrangement with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the minister informed that the and AGP would contest the panchayat polls jointly in Dhubri district. According to the agreement, the BJP will contest 4 seats in Golakganj, 2 seats in Gauripur, 3 seats in Dhubri, and 4 seats in Bairsingh for the Zilla Parishad member positions.

At the Anchalik level, the BJP will contest 17 seats in Golakganj, 25 in Gauripur, and 16 in Dhubri. “AGP will contest 4 seats in Golakganj, 4 seats in Gauripur, and 2 seats in Dhubri,” he added. He highlighted the establishment of a medical college, improved road infrastructure, and an enhanced education system as key achievements. Discussing future development plans, the minister mentioned efforts to transform Dhubri into a major commercial hub. He also noted that Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has announced plans to develop the Dhubri port, which includes the construction of a modern integrated office complex, a new warehouse, and improved road connectivity to boost trade with Bhutan and Bangladesh.
