Forest dept slaps Rs 1-lakh penalty on pvt contractor

New Delhi: The forest department has levied an environmental penalty of Rs 1 lakh on a contractor for unauthorised tree felling and severe pruning while constructing a police checkpost in northwest Delhi's Mangolpuri . The north division of the department reported that two neem trees underwent excessive pruning and one peepal tree was cut down.
