30am incident occurred when the corporal and his colleague arrived and tried to calm the foreigner down. After several attempts, the suspect who seemed to have calmed down was ushered into the patrol car."When he got to the car door and was about to be placed inside the vehicle, he suddenly turned and bit the corporal's left ear, severing it.



"The corporal was bleeding profusely and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for emergency treatment."Sentul deputy police chief Superintendent Jasni Zopal confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt."Initial investigations revealed that the 38-year-old suspect is a student at a private college.

"We have detained the suspect to facilitate investigations," he said.It is understood that the corporal is currently in stable condition at the hospital and waiting to undergo surgery to reattach the severed portion of his ear.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
