1 2 Prayagraj: The UP Board authorities have decided to award full marks (5) for a question in the Intermediate mathematics paper that was found to be out of syllabus. During evaluation, some teachers were confused about question number five (a) in the inter mathematics question paper because it was not from the syllabus. Some examinees tried unsuccessfully to solve it while many left the question unanswered.

Upon receiving information, the board took it seriously and decided to award full marks to the candidates. Furthermore, authorities are investigating a suspicious pattern where multiple mathematics answer sheets show identical errors in fraction-related solutions, raising concerns about potential mass copying. Additionally, the board authorities are implementing rigorous monitoring of high school and intermediate examination answer sheet evaluations, with particular attention to handwriting analysis in cases where solvers were apprehended.

Answer sheets for all subjects of such students are being closely examined. The board is also conducting evaluations for copies found written outside the exam centre in Azamgarh and Hardoi, which were caught by the STF. Action will be taken under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act-2024 if different handwriting is found.

During the board examination, 49 solvers were caught and booked under the Public Examination Act. Authorities believe that if the handwriting is different in the answer sheets of different subjects for a candidate, it will be considered a case of cheating, and suitable action will be taken. Board secretary Bhagwati Singh has appointed separate officers to prepare the evaluation report of the copies of other subjects for the roll numbers on which solvers were caught.

In this process, handwriting is being specially observed. "Similarly, evaluation reports of other subject copies caught with different handwriting are also being prepared separately. If different handwriting is found, it will confirm that the solver gang is involved in the cheating," said Singh.

This report will be used as evidence of cheating in the registered case..
