Old footage of Stipe Miocic’s appearance on a prominent podcast answered questions about Jon Jones’ claims that Miocic invoked Jones’ kids into pre-fight trash talk. Jon Jones accused Stipe Miocic of mentioning his kids in an interview clip ahead of UFC 309. Social media sleuths solved the mystery behind the accusations, providing some clarity to what Jones was referring to.
Jones claimed during his UFC 309 media day press conference that Miocic responded to a question about his legacy by saying “at least my kids won’t look at me like an a**hole”. Jones interpreted this as Miocic taking an indirect shot at him over his questionable history outside of the Octagon. Miocic was asked whether or not he feels he gets due credit for what he’s accomplished in his UFC career. “The more, the better I guess, you get paid more,” Miocic said.
“If I talk a little bit more s***, go a little bit more crazy, but that’s not who I am. I’m a full-time fireman, got two kids, just trying to raise my kids right. I don’t want my kids to grow up and be like ‘Look at my Dad, he’s a f***ing a**hole.

Hours before arguably the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history, Jones and Miocic’s pre-fight controversy can be put to bed. But, the animosity built during fight week could lead to another viral finish for either behemoth.
