FM Nirmala Sitharaman: Need To De-Link Supply Chains From Geopolitical Risks

Supply chain management has emerged as one of the main strategic economic issues for India. According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman high prices remain one of the biggest challenges for not only India but the world and supply disruptions are the primary cause of inflation. Addressing the one-day Global Economic Policy Forum 2024 hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in New Delhi, the Finance Minister stressed on the fact that supply chains needed to be de-risked and protected from geopolitical treats. Without naming any country, Sitharaman said that India needed to ensure that geopolitical risks did not threaten the country’s economic well-being.
