A huge amount of fly-tipping has been reported around backstreets where residents complain “nothing is ever done.” Over recent weeks rubbish had been reported to have been dumped around various backstreets in New Bury, Farnworth including behind Buckley Lane, Crescent Avenue. Rubbish has also been left between St James Street and Mansfield Drive.
A resident said: “It’s just that it's a continuing in this area of New bury and nothing is ever done! “There are never any skips provided around Masefield Drive, Westland Avenue, Wordsworth Avenue or the Crescent Avenue estate. As well as household waste this also appears to include a mattrass and other kinds of rubbish. Earlier this year in February a huge amount of waste was dumped at a graveyard at the grounds of St James Church, New Bury, with dozens of bags of empty cans, bottles and other rubbish. Rubbish has been strewn around the backstreets (Image: Public) Responding to the most recent reports of fly-tipping around New Bury, Bolton Council said it has a range of ways to tackle the problem and encouraged witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson said: " Fly-tipping negatively impacts the lives of residents and business owners as well as costing the council to clear up the mess .

“We inspect and investigate fly tipping on private land from an enforcement perspective. “Landowners are responsible for the clean-up.”.
