University of Florida donors announced who Billy Napier’s replacement would be if he were to get fired . Or more specifically, they announced the kind of Napier replacement candidate we'd see. The Gator’s head coach has not had the strongest of starts — going 1-2 after three weeks.

They won against Samford by a score of 45-7 but fell to a now-ranked No. 8 Miami and No. 25 Texas A surrendering 74 points between the two contests.

“Should Florida pull the plug on Napier, Florida’s boosters and high level donors are prepared to pursue a proven, power conference head coach, according to 2 high level donors who spoke to Saturday Down South,” Saturday Down South’s Neil Blackmon wrote . “Both donors spoke to Saturday Down South on the condition of anonymity due to the ongoing and sensitive nature of the process, which will only begin in earnest when interim president Kent Fuchs approves any final and official decision.” Both donors had two different but cohesive perspectives when it came to hiring a new head coach — strict guidelines, nonetheless.

“One donor noted Florida’s championship drought, which dates back to 2008 and now spans 5 head coaches, saying that 'when the time comes, we will be going after a proven power conference coach first and foremost.' “The other donor added that Florida’s customary approach of hiring a young up and comer appears to have failed the football program for the third time in the past 4 hires.” Is it hard to blame these donors for wanting a change? That’s hard to argue against.

However, there’s still plenty of football to be played and Napier could change their minds. Florida will travel on September 21 to take on Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium. This matchup will be televised on ESPN at noon ET.
