Article content The Saskatchewan music industry is converging on the Queen City for a once-a-year celebration of excellence. And you’re invited! The awards show, which takes place Sunday night at the Regina Performing Arts Centre, honours the achievements of artists and industry professionals from across the province. Winners will be recognized in 21 categories, along with live performances from a variety of artists, including Beau Nectar, Big Tones, Rooky Kamiz, Teagan Littlechief, and youth performer Ashlyn Wilder.

Also set to perform is Erroll Kinistino of Ochapowace Nation. The multi-talented singer, actor, drama instructor, director and writer is being honoured with the 2025 Indigenous Music Achievement Award. A limited number of tickets are available.

One of Canada’s top hair-metal cover bands is set to blow the roof off the Casino Regina Show Lounge on Friday night. Big Top Radio performs ’80s hits from Poison, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Queen, Journey, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister and more. “Let Big Top Radio take you on an adventure from a time where big arena rock shows were made to be a spectacle,” says an online preview.

” More info at reginaspringhomeshow.com . Award-winning classical pianist Meagan Milatz, originally from the Weyburn area, is scheduled for two special appearances this weekend alongside the Regina Symphony Orchestra.

The shows run Saturday (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.

m.) at Darke Hall. Milatz has performed around the world in addition to previous appearances with RSO.

On Saturday, she’ll be part of a program that includes Stravinsky’s Concerto in E-flat (Dumbarton Oaks), Mozart’s Concerto No. 24 in C minor, and Poulenc’s Sinfonietta. Milatz was recently bestowed the Mécénat Musica Prix Goyer award, which is valued at $125,000.

It’s the biggest prize in Canada and one of the largest in the world for a collaborative emerging artist in classical music. More info at reginasymphony.com .

The latest instalment of the MacKenzie Art Galley’s weekly workshop program runs Sunday (1-3 p.m.).

It’s titled Becoming Giants. “Inspired by Wanda Koop’s large-scale paintings from the exhibition The Permanent Collection: Whispers from the Vault (on view until June 16), imagine that you are huge as you draw and paint,” says a news release. “Start with a tiny sketch, then create a large-scale artwork using big art materials.

” The drop-in session — for all ages and skill levels — is free of charge with all materials provided. It’s also an opportunity to visit the MacKenzie’s latest exhibitions, including Thick as Thieves, which opened earlier this month and runs until April 20. Meanwhile, visitors to the MacKenzie on Saturday (1-4 p.

m.) will get a chance to meet its new artist in residence, Patrick Fernandez. The Regina-based visual artist is in the process of creating a new installation for the gallery.
