Article content The First Nations University of Canada is continuing a springtime tradition with its indoor powwow at the Brandt Centre. The annual celebration runs all day Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m.

-midnight), adding a little extra flair to Easter festivities across the Queen City. Attracting thousands of guests each year, the event is known as “one of Saskatchewan’s most significant celebrations, and the longest-running indoor powwow in Western Canada,” says a news release. It began over 45 years ago thanks to a small group of students from what is now known as FNUiv, launching an annual celebration of First Nations culture and traditions through dance, song, and ceremony.



More than 800 dancers from across North America — joined by 20-plus drum groups — are scheduled to perform various styles of dance such as fancy, traditional, jingle dress, and grass dance. The event also includes an Indigenous trade show with artisans and vendors located in the Brandt Centre link and Ag Ex buildings (10 a.m.

-11 p.m. on both days).

Participants must find them all to solve Scotty’s riddle and get a chance to win a Dino-themed gift basket. Meanwhile, Government House is hosting its annual Easter egg scavenger hunt for kids on Saturday (9 a.

m.-noon). The Hotel Saskatchewan’s Easter brunch runs Sunday (10 a.

m.-3 p.m.

m.) at Victoria Square Mall. The Regina Farmers’ Market wraps up its extended indoor schedule this Saturday (9 a.

) with a special Easter edition at Banner Hall in REAL District. The outdoor season begins May 3. The indoor market features a variety of local products and vendors, including this weekend’s Easter theme.
