Five Spanish tourists died in a helicopter crash on New York's Hudson River.

Five Spanish tourists died Thursday afternoon in a helicopter crash in New York City, according to Mayor Eric Adams. The victims of the tragedy also included the aircraft's pilot. Among the deceased were three children, authorities explained.

The helicopter was flying over the Hudson River when it suddenly plummeted into the water. The causes of the crash are still being investigated. The helicopter had taken off this afternoon and continued south before heading north along the Hudson River.



It was returning south, along the New Jersey coast, where it crashed, according to city police in a press conference. Diplomatic sources consulted by ARA indicate that the Spanish consulate in New York is in contact with the relevant authorities to gather more detailed information. Adams has described the situation as "tragic," while New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has issued a statement saying that "six innocent souls have lost their lives and we are praying for them and their family.

" The helicopter belonged to New York Helicopter, authorities said in their first press conference after the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Safety Office are investigating the cause of the crash. It is the deadliest helicopter crash in New York since 2018, when another sightseeing helicopter crashed into the East River.

All five passengers died, and only the pilot survived. T.
