Five people were hospitalised in north London this morning after a takeaway went up in flames - as in the northwest homes were evacuated when a block of flats (pictured) caught fire.

Around 100 firefighters rushed to a fire at a takeaway restaurant in Holloway, north London, at 3.45am.

London Fire Brigade said that half of the ground floor, as well as part of two flats on the first and second floors, remain alight at the building on Seven Sisters Road. Meanwhile, ten fire engines evacuated people from Lyncroft Gardens, a block of flats, in West Hampstead, after a fire broke out at 3.09am.



London Fire Brigade said on social media around 70 firefighters were at the fire on a roof in West Hampstead, which took more than two hours to bring under control. Speaking at the scene of the Holloway fire, Station Commander Mike Watts said: 'There are road closures in place and we urge people to avoid the area, particularly as we head into rush hour, due to congestion in the area. 'The fire is producing a lot of smoke in the vicinity and local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed while we work to bring the fire under control.

' The London Ambulance Service said it also attended the scene where five people were treated before they were taken to hospital. A block of flats (pictured) in West Hampstead northwest London, went up in flames on Thursday morning Meanwhile, a takeaway restaurant in Holloway, north London, also caught fire in the early hours of the morning A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: 'We were called at 03.51am today to reports of a fire on Seven Sisters Road.

'We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team. 'We treated five people at the scene and conveyed them to hospital.' Control officers took the first calls at 3.

45am with crews from Holloway, Kentish Town, Islington, Euston and surrounding fire stations at the scene. In West Hampstead, part of the roof of a house in Lyncroft Gardens went up in flames. Firefighters have evacuated around 25 people to safety.

There were no reports of any injuries. Twenty-five people were evacuated from this block of flats in posh West Hampstead Ten fire engines attended the scene as firefighters in a power operated fire ladder tackled the blaze Station Commander Ken Spratt, who is at the scene, said: 'One of the Brigade's 64-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene as a water tower to tackle the fire from height. 'Drones are also being used to survey the incident from above, providing incident commanders with an aerial view to support with developing tactics.

'West Hampstead Fire Station has been set up as a rest centre for residents affected by the fire.' The London Fire Brigade said the first call was made just after 3am with crew from West Hampstead, Paddington, North Kensington and Hendon on the scene. The cause of both fires is not yet known.
