Recognising that shop owners located along major roads are often the first responders in accidents, superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan inaugurated a first-aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session under the Road-Safety Village Committee programme in Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, SP Mahajan emphasised the critical need for immediate first aid during accidents. "Many lives are lost in accidents because victims do not receive timely first aid treatment.
The concept of the 'Golden Hour' highlights that providing appropriate first aid based on the injury before transporting victims to hospitals can save lives," he stated. In recent times, numerous incidents shared on social media have highlighted the tragic loss of lives due to the absence of immediate first aid. Addressing this issue, the Sircilla police initiated a training programme targeting shop owners situated along key roads.
"By equipping these people with CPR and first-aid skills, we aim to ensure that life-saving measures are administered promptly during emergencies," SP Mahajan added. Participants who effectively respond to emergencies after completing the training will be honoured with Good Samaritan awards and other rewards as a token of appreciation. This initiative not only empowers shop owners to act decisively in critical situations but also fosters a community-oriented approach to road safety.
Following the inauguration, doctors from various private hospitals conducted comprehensive PowerPoint presentations on administering first aid to accident victims, as well as treatments for sunstroke, snake bites, and sudden cardiac arrest. They provided hands-on training on performing CPR, ensuring that the participants are well-prepared to handle diverse medical emergencies..
