BACHOK: The first phase of job rotation involving 1,000 civil servants who have served at service counters for more than five years, has been completed.Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the job rotation exercise will be carried out in several phases based on current needs."So far, an estimated 1,000 civil servants from various departments who serve at public counters have undergone job rotations.
"It can be said that nearly 50 per cent have completed the process. If necessary, a second phase will be implemented."Job rotation is a key component of public service reform.
It is important because we do not want any officer to remain in the same position for too long, which could potentially lead to various issues, including leakages," he said.He was speaking at a press conference after officiating the closing ceremony of the Tautan Perdana programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Telaga Ara here today.Wan Ahmad Dahlan, however, explained that not all officers can be rotated at once, as this could lead to implementation issues.
"We cannot rotate everyone at the same time. The process takes time as experienced officers need to train their replacements."God willing, we will carry it out continuously based on operational needs," he added.
