AJINOMOTO Philippines expanded its Eat Well, Live Well: 2024 Youth Summit to Cebu, following the success of its inaugural event in Quezon City last year. Held on Nov. 9 in partnership with the Department of Education, Department of Health and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the summit aimed to empower young Filipinos as catalysts for nation-building.
“We believe the youth hold great power in shaping the future. By educating, engaging and equipping them with the right tools and support, we can help create a brighter tomorrow for all Filipinos,” said Koichi Osaki, president of Ajinomoto Philippines Corp. The summit promoted healthy living and sustainability, engaging participants through hands-on activities and collaborative sessions.
Promoting vegetables A key highlight was a youth-led brainstorming activity that encouraged attendees to develop actionable solutions for healthier and more eco-conscious lifestyles. Ajinomoto also introduced its I Love Veggie-licious campaign to Cebu’s Gen Zs, emphasizing the benefits of increased vegetable consumption. “By starting with themselves — by eating and finishing their vegetables — they can inspire their communities to embrace healthier habits,” Osaki said.
The company further tackled food security and sustainability through its Too Good to Waste campaign, which encourages reducing food waste by repurposing leftovers and maximizing ingredient use. This effort is critical as Filipino households generate an estimated 9.3 million metric tons of food waste annually, with rice, vegetables and meat topping the list, according to United Nations Environment Program.
