Earlier this week, Kennesaw State University announced that head football coach Brian Bohannon had stepped down from his position following the Owls' 1-8 start to the 2024 season. Bohannon pushed back against that announcement, saying he was fired by the program. "This morning I was informed directly from AD Overton that he was making a change in leadership," Bohannon wrote on X.
"Contrary to what's been reported, I want to be clear that I did not step down from my position as head football coach at Kennesaw State University." Bohannon was in his 10th season as Kennesaw State's head coach. The veteran sideline leader played an integral role in the program's transition from FCS to FBS this season.
He finishes his career with a 72-38 overall record with the Owls. Despite his controversial dismissal, Bohannon was in Kennesaw for the Owls' matchup against the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Saturday afternoon. Bohannon greeted his former players as they entered the stadium.
