An "accidental" fire in a block of flats triggered a large scale response. West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at a block of flats in Wilmot Road, Shoreham on Sunday (April 6) at 4.56pm.
The fire service sent six fire engines from across the county to the scene. READ MORE: Live updates as home destroyed in huge blaze that tore through building Upon arrival firefighters were confronted with a large amount of smoke issuing from the building with three properties involved in the fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises to extinguish the fire and to try and prevent it from spreading further.
The fire service has said that it believes the fire to be accidental. A spokeswoman said: "Today crews will be returning to the area to carry out community fire safety activities." It has been confirmed that there were no reported injuries.
