The incident happened on Friday afternoon (November 29). Emergency services, including police and fire, were called to Great Northern Road at around 4.
10pm. Five fire engines and aerial crews were on the scene, with assistance from Royston and Baldock crews. People were advised to avoid the area whilst crews worked to tackle the blaze.
The fire was brought under control at around 5.51pm that evening and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. They added that no-one else was being sought in relation to the incident and are awaiting the fire investigation. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said that the initial call came from a second-floor flat. They also confirmed that one female casualty was reported.
