Fire destroys six houses and shophouses in Sungai Lalang

SUNGAI PETANI: A fire destroyed six abandoned houses and shophouses in Jalan Besar Sungai Lalang last night.Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Station chief Siti Norafiza Mohd Noh said firefighters were dispatched to the scene, located opposite Masjid Makmur, after receiving a distress call at 9.51pm.

She said that no casualties were reported from the fire, which consumed 80 per cent of the buildings."No victims were involved in the fire. The fire crews managed to bring the blaze under control within about an hour, with assistance from firefighters from the Aman Jaya Fire Station and volunteer fire brigades," she said in a statement today.
