LONACONING — A Douglas Avenue home sustained about $75,000 damage after a fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal. The blaze, which investigators said was caused by a lamp igniting nearby combustible materials, was reported to the Allegany County 911 Center at 9 a.m.

An occupant of the two-story property was alerted to smoke just prior to a detector activating, investigators said. There were no reported injuries. The American Red Cross is reportedly assisting occupants Rachel Haggerty, Hali Wilt and Jeffrey Wilt.
