Fire at Gazipur factory: One killed, 5 injured

An individual was burnt to death and five others were injured in a fire that broke out at a chemical warhouse of a button manufacturing factory at Bhangnahati in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Sunday.Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence deputy assistant director Mamunur Rashid confirmed the death, adding that firefighters recovered the body of a man from inside the warhouse.Though, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, but the injured are identified as Zakir Hossain, Khokon Mia, Rony, Lutfar Rahman Makdul Sheikh and Ariful Islam. The injured were rescued and taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, said Dr Roxana of the hospital. Earlier, around 1.45 PM on Sunday, the fire broke out with esxplosions in the warhouse and engulfed the adjacent area soon, said locals.



On information, seven firefighting units rushed there and brought the fire under control around 3:45 PM , said Khairul Islam Rony, station officer of Sreepur Fire Service and Civil Defence. Fire breaks out in Gazipur factory.
