Ludhiana: In a troubling incident, six individuals have been booked by the Ludhiana rural police for allegedly robbing a complainant of his Toyota Fortuner vehicle, with initial investigations suggesting the crime may have stemmed from a financial dispute . On Friday, the Sadar Jagraon police registered an FIR against the suspects, including five unidentified individuals, for forcibly removing the complainant from his vehicle during a test drive in the Jagraon area. SSP Ludhiana Rural Navneet Singh Bains indicated that the preliminary investigation points to a potential financial disagreement involving about ₹5 lakh between the accused and the complainant's husband.
The primary accused, Goldie Dalla, has not yet cooperated with the investigation, and police are still working to identify the other suspects. According to police sources, both the accused and the complainant’s husband were involved in the vehicle sales business. The complainant, Mandeep Kaur of Mangal Enclave Colony in Jagraon, reported that her husband, Maninder Singh, has been in New Zealand for several months.
Two years ago, Maninder purchased the Fortuner from Moga and entrusted it to their acquaintance Shamsher Singh. The couple rented out the vehicle for ₹3,000 per day. On Friday morning, Shamsher received a call from someone interested in renting the Fortuner.
Mandeep sent her brother Gurtej Singh to retrieve the car. Gurtej arrived at Sidhwan Bet Road in front of Adarsh Colony, where two unknown individuals on a motorcycle were waiting. After Gurtej met with three men who claimed to want to test drive the vehicle, one of them began driving while Gurtej sat in the front seat.
The driver then turned back toward Tehsil Chowk Jagraon, threatened Gurtej, and forcibly pushed him out of the car before fleeing with it. In a positive development, police recovered the abandoned vehicle on Saturday morning near a sugar mill on Moga Road as they continue their search for the suspects.
