A CHEQUE of $11,362.32 was given by Nadi-based company Decked Out Fiji Group for people living with cancer. Speaking at a Pinktober event last week, managing director Louise Joseph said this was the company’s third year of supporting the Fiji Cancer Society.
“Decked Out Fiji Group, comprising Finest Liquor, Triple 3 and Decked Out Apparel with the support of our valued customers, valued suppliers and our passionate staff, managed to raise over $11,000 for Pinktober,” Ms Joseph said. One of the core values of Decked Out Fiji was community, she added. “We believe in the importance of giving back to our community and supporting the underprivileged.
Not only are we passionate about this, but we are also committed. “Our initial commitment to Fiji Cancer Society started three years ago, we made private donations during the first two years. “However, our perspective shifted earlier this year when we realised our private contributions had zero impact on raising awareness and prevention, which we feel is of great importance.
” Ms Joseph said cancer cases had increased steadily over the years. “According to the Ministry of Health, it is now the third most common cause of death in Fiji. “I personally lost family members and friends very close and dear to me to cancer.
“You are all right to presume that this loss motivated me towards supporting the Fiji Cancer Society.” She added that Decked Out Fiji would continue to stand firm with Fiji Cancer Society, other business houses and individuals behind this movement..
