Wardens Gold has emerged as the new Fiji Bitter Kadavu Sevens champions, securing a hard-fought 17-15 victory over Peagus Lavidi in the main cup final yesterday. Their journey to the title was marked by a decisive 10-0 win over defending champions BLK Lavidi Brothers in the semi-final, showcasing their determination and skill throughout the competition. Team manager Etonia Taivo expressed his pride in the team’s performance, emphasising the dedication and effort they put into their preparation.
“This is really a special moment for the boys, they really worked hard for this win, ups and down throughout the start of the competition but that didn’t stop us from getting this win today (yesterday),” said Taivo. Despite facing challenges and setbacks early on, the players remained focused and determined, ultimately achieving success in the final match. The match against Peagus Lavidi was intense and demanding, with both teams showcasing their skills and resilience.
Wardens Gold relied on their strong passing, tackling, and defensive abilities to secure the win, highlighting their teamwork and cohesion on the field. “Our preparations for the competition was so long and it all just showed in this competition . “The game against Lavidi was really a tough match.
“They put on pressure from the get-go but we held in their till the last minute. “Passing tackling and defense that’s our main key through out the competition.”.
