IT has been a long battle for us retired civil servants in our fight for our pension adjustment. Our crusade has gone to the highest court of the land, Federal Court, which on June 27, 2023 affirmed the Court of Appeal’s decision that declared the amended pension null and void, and also dismissed the appeal by the government and Public Service Department (PSD) director-general to overturn the appellate court’s decision. On Jan 16, 2025, a High Court judge ordered the arrears to be paid to government pensioners within three months.
This ruling brought huge relief to government pensioners, myself included, who were waiting for closure of the case..
