Jarryd Hayne describes the Papua New Guinea Kumuls side as a fiery bunch, as the Vodafone Fiji Bati side gears up with only a day to go before they face their PNG opponents for the NRL Pacific Championship this Saturday, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Hayne made the comment following a training session for the side, with coach Wise Kativerata and other technical officials at the helm, guiding the team in front of fans and supporters who turned up to witness and meet them following the session. “They are definitely a fiery bunch, and they love the tough stuff so there will be plenty of action and we (Bati) are going to come ready,” Hayne said.
The team’s training session yesterday, according to him, explored areas the side found essential in ensuring their defence was impenetrable and to iron out any areas the team will need to work on. “It all comes down to our defence, and I think we’ve seen today when the defence is going to rush like we did today (yesterday), to put pressure on the ball and we have to just hold it,” he said. “You want to make your mistakes in training and not in the game, and we just had to be a bit more patient and bit calmer.
” Meanwhile, Hayne added his assistance in the side’s preparation for Saturday’s match and the championship has been a joy for him in sharing his knowledge and experience as a former Bati player..
