I noticed recently that FF reps were claiming that the 2023 figure of 30,000 houses will be a record number of houses built. Yet there was 90,000 houses built in 2006 and more houses built in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s Then I spot Minister Daragh OBrien pushing the same line on Twitter about record housing with the help of a couple of local newspapers. . Seeing how much of a great success the housing "Commencements and completions" are going in co. Mayo ; I think Mr Darragh "Blobby" O'Brien should switch constituency to Co.
Mayo , electoral district and boost his chances of "Topping the Polls" in the next GE.I don't think he has a hope in hell of "Topping the Polls" in his current electoral area, the "Blob" is just a "Toxic Buffoon". carlovian said: I noticed recently that FF reps were claiming that the 2023 figure of 30,000 houses will be a record number of houses built.

Where has the minister stated that there's more houses being built now than there ever was? Neither of your links show he made any such claim, in fact in the second one he's quoted as saying "'supply is central to dealing with all the key challenges in housing", "The latest CSO figures on completions show that in both Kilkenny and countrywide, supply is increasing and that we are going in the right direction" and "All of this momentum is welcome but we are not complacent. I have always said that there is no one single magic bullet to solve the housing crisis but rather a variety of complementary initiatives and reforms". So where is he saying 'we are building more houses/homes than were ever built'????? The OP states that it was a Fianna Fail lie that FF have broken records on housing.
Fianna Fail Twitter .. ' New homes in Ireland are now being created in record numbers .
There was a further 50% increase in new dwellings from Q1 to Q2 of this year. We are turning the tide on the housing crisis.' I notice ministers in Ireland are increasingly releasing 'no shit sherlock' sentences in their public statements.
"'supply is central to dealing with all the key challenges in housing". No shit, Sherlock. I'm looking forward to a ministerial statement that begins 'Houses are big boxy things that humans live in.
' Just in case anyone is unaware. Probably the Communications Clinic or some other PR consultancy..

. The headline isn't written by the minister. You do realise that a lot of these regional news outlets are owned by the same entities? This is what the article quotes the minister as saying.
He said: “This is an increase of 26% on the same period in 2022 and the highest number of commencements in Carlow for this period since the data series began in 2014. With three months of the year still remaining, commencements so far this year already exceed the second highest number for Carlow since 2014.” Click to expand.
.. Nothing about records being broken.
Unless one of you guys comes up with somewhere the minister told some lie or claimed some all time record this thread is just another 'FFG are lying bastards' type piece of crap.
