‘Festen’ Wins the 2025 Olivier Awards

The Olivier Awards has announced the 2025 winners.The Royal Ballet & Opera’s “Festen” was the big winner in the two opera categories.The new piece by Mark-Anthony Turnage and Lee Hall was awarded Best New Opera Production and Outstanding Achievement in Opera for Allan Clayton.

“Festen” premiered at the Royal Ballet & Opera to rave reviews, with OperaWire noting, “Mark-Anthony Turnage and Lee Hall’s adaptation of Vinterberg is magnificently executed.” Additionally, Clayton’s performance was hailed for his” vocal power” and his “ability to sing a pianissimo on a big stage.”The Olivier Awards were presented on April 6, 2025 at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Beverley Knight and Billy Porter.
