Ferry capsizes near Elephanta Caves; Navy, Mumbai Police launch rescue operation

A ferry has capsized near Elephanta Caves on Wednesday evening. According to the preliminary information received from the joint operations centre (JOC) for coastal security, the ferry boat named Neelkamal, which was on its way to Elephanta Caves, sank in Uran. There were 30-35 passengers on board.

Rescue operations are underway with the help of Navy, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Indian Coast Guard, three boats of Yellowgate Police Station and local fishermen. Further details are awaited..
