Federal officials are investigating a new outbreak of infections from Listeria monocytogenes. According to the Food and Administration, three confirmed patients were present as of Aug. 21.

An outbreak is declared when two or more patients are infected with the same strain of a pathogen. The FDA has initiated traceback efforts, but the agency has not reported what food or foods are being traced, the ages of the patients, or where they live.
