Qatar tribune Tribune News network Doha Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, in collaboration with the Years of Culture initiative, hosted the official opening of ‘Morocco: The Land of Travellers’, an exhibition celebrating Morocco’s rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The exhibition marked a key event in the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. Featuring more than 70 artefacts from the museum’s extensive collection, the exhibition has been curated by Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum and will be on view through February, 2025.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani, and Sheikh Turki bin Faisal Al Thani, along with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Doha, HE Mohamed Setri; Salah Khaled, director of the UNESCO Office in Doha for the Gulf States and Yemen; Mona El Helbawi, GM of ARIES Group; directors and senior management from Qatar Museums; as well as representatives from ICOM, ambassadors, VIPs, dignitaries, and media representatives. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, founder of FBQ Museum, commented on the exhibition’s significance, saying, “We were pleased to participate in the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, as part of the State of Qatar’s pioneering Years of Culture initiative. Through the Morocco: The Land of Travellers exhibition, we renewed a valuable opportunity to enhance awareness of ancient Moroccan heritage and its deep-rooted history.



Morocco is a country rich in history and culture that transcends borders and inspires every lover of civilization. We hope that the diverse collection of Moroccan heritage pieces in the museum will contribute to enriching knowledge and promoting a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Morocco, thus strengthening the strong ties between our two brotherly peoples.” From his side, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Doha HE Mohamed Setri, stated: “First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani for his generous patronage and invaluable efforts.

I am delighted to accept his invitation to attend the exhibition Morocco: Land of Travellers, which reflects his prominent role in supporting culture, art, and heritage both locally and internationally. “This event is part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, which symbolizes the deep ties between the two countries. Building on the vital role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bonds between brothers, this exhibition undoubtedly provides an opportunity to explore the richness, diversity, and authenticity of Moroccan cultural and civilizational heritage.

” Sara Al Mohannadi, secretary of the National Committee for the Years of Culture said: “This year, we have seen an extraordinary commitment from partners, public and private organizations alike, eager to join in celebrating the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture.” The Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture initiative, launched by HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in 2012, promotes cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding. The exhibition, Morocco: The Land of Travellers, is structured into three key sections: Morocco, the Multi-coloured House of Generosity, Morocco Writes History, and Lions of the Atlas.

Mona El Helbawi, general manager of ARIES Group, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Through this exhibition, the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum has created an invaluable platform with its unique artefacts to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Moroccan heritage. ARIES Group is proud to have played a role in bringing this inspiring event to life, offering visitors the chance to explore the richness of Morocco’s history and its lasting influence on global culture.” Morocco: The Land of Travellers will be on display at the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, Great Hall, until the end of February 2025.
