Fay T. Weller Vaughn

Purcell, Okla.—Fay T. Weller Vaughn, 81, passed away peacefully in Purcell, Okla.

(formerly of Bronson, Texas), on February 27, 2025. Born March 25, 1943, in Hudson Falls, N.Y.



, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lena (Harris) Weller. Fay’s passion for horses began at a young age when she first started riding. She began barrel racing and held barrel racing events at her former residence in West Glens Falls, N.

Y. Some of her favorite places to go were Painted Pony Ranch and Thousand Acres. Throughout her life, her love of horses never waned, and she still had one before she passed.

When asked what she wanted for her birthday this year, she said she wanted a gray mare. Throughout her life, Fay was known for her strong work ethic. She began by traveling to various mills and later became a Teamsters Union Pipeliner, a role that allowed her to continue working on the road until her retirement.

Those who knew her would agree that she was a doer and would help anyone she could, especially her work crew. She understood the importance of camaraderie and enjoyed making sandwiches for her fellow on-site employees. She loved to visit all her family and friends.

Her favorite thing to do was to surprise them whenever she could, even driving long distances to do so. She found it a necessity to “brush” your teeth before ever leaving the house. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Kearns of North Dakota, Timothy Kearns of Schenectady, N.

Y., and Roger Kearns and his wife, Rute of Warwick, N.Y.

; and her daughters, Nancy Brayman and her husband, Mickey of Fort Ann, N.Y., and Karen Baeza and her husband, Harvey of Lexington, Okla.

She has seven grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Grandma Toodie: Crystal Appel and her husband, Ryan, Joseph Fifield and his wife, Lauren, Jeffrey Fifield and his wife, Nicole, Ashley Henry and her husband, James, Brittany Hoag and her husband, James, Mitchell Brayman, and Sofia Kearns. Her great-grandchildren are Kaiden, Kylie, Luke, Piper, Tillie, Jordy, and Harper. Aunt Toodie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Vaughn, in January of 2025. She was also predeceased by her brother, Lester Weller, and his wife, Roxanne; her sisters, Florence Fowler Belden and Judith McWhorter; her niece, Lynn Schnable; and her nephews, Kelly and Darwin Weller. She was also predeceased by her very special dog, “Dolly.

” There will be a celebration of life for Fay at a later date at the convenience of her children..
