Fawcett first for Radcliffe AC at Bury 10k

Radcliffe AC members were out in force at the annual Bury 10K, writes Neil Greenhalgh.

Alongside the 19 club AC runners were a further 17 volunteer marshals and pacers keeping spirits up. First over the line for Radcliffe was Steven Fawcett, who bagged a new personal best for the 10km distance with a time of 39mins 18secs. Second for Radcliffe, and an amazing first in his age category (M50), was Rob Shiels in 40:46.

The juniors were also out in force for the 1.5K and 2.



5K races with Benji, George, Oliver, Aoife, Steve, Skyler, Seth, Sienna-Mai, Grace, and Poppy all competing. Oliver came first for the club, and an amazing fourth overall. Also on Sunday, though away from the rain, Mark Taylor was soaking up the Portuguese sun for the Porto Half Marathon, finishing the 13.

1 miles in 1:38:05. Three Radcliffe runners took part in the Fairhaven Flyer 10k, with Wayne Holden bagging a PB in 58:34, followed by clubmates Natalie Hitchen (1:15:31) and Sarah Rushton (1:15:33). Donna Cartwright carried on the marvellous form for the Radcliffe ladies, finishing second lady and first L45 at the Clowbridge 5KM trail race.

Elsewhere, Kath Biddle ran the undulating Abersoch Half Marathon, complete with a beach finish in 2:15:57, and Scott Rosevere ran the soggy, but beautiful, Defeat Delamere 10-Mile Trail Race in a time of 1:30:14..
