FARGO — Visit Fargo-Moorhead is hosting an online question and answer event from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.

1, to inform residents about an upcoming ballot initiative, according to a release. On Election Day, Nov. 5, Fargo voters are being asked to decide on a proposal to double the city's lodging tax from 3% to 6% to fund a future convention center.



"This increase, almost exclusively paid for by visitors staying in local hotels, aims to establish a public-private partnership for the center's development," a release from Visit Fargo-Moorhead said. In addition, the convention center is intended to bring more large-scale events and more visitors to town. Attendees will hear a presentation about the purpose, funding and economic impact of the proposed plan.
