A popular local delivery driver has received a heartfelt retirement gift from the community following 26 years of service. `Sharon Morton has been delivering packages to residents of Tockholes for almost three decades. So, when Sharon announced she would be retiring from her role, residents pooled together to give her a special send-off.
The event organiser and long-time friend of Sharon, Jane McDonough, said: “She’s special, Sharon is the only delivery driver here. "She messages every person in the morning to make sure that they get their package. Jane (left) and Sharon (right).
(Image: Leah Collins) “She’s always so bright and cheerful, she really is a pillar of the community, and we can’t thank her enough. “It’s a difficult place for parcel deliveries, there are lots of small roads and people don’t know where to go, Sharon’s done a fantastic job of it. “We have a WhatsApp group for the village, I told people that we were doing a collection for Sharon and we’ve managed to raise £1,000 for her send off.

"You’ve all been with me for the past 26 years of my life and it’s been one of the more treasured moments of my entire life. Dozens gathered to celebrate Sharon's achievements and give her a proper send off.
(Image: Leah Collins) “Everyone in Tockholes has been a part of my heart, it’s been an absolute pleasure to serve each and every one of you and you have made my heart swell with pride because of how much I love everyone here. “Thank you will never ever ever be enough.” Sharon’s daughter, Bethany, said: “My mum has been working as a delivery driver for 26 years, so nearly all of her working life.
