Director Matt Shakman confirmed a detail about The Fantastic Four: First Steps , putting to bed a popular fan theory about the film. After it was revealed that the new Fantastic Four film would occur outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s sacred timeline in an alternate 1960s retro-futuristic period, a particular fan theory emerged. It was speculated that the movie would have famous cameos from other Marvel heroes , heavily influenced by their original Silver Age comic designs.
However, Matt has made it clear that those anticipated Marvel cameos wouldn’t be included in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While the Fantastic Four will meet other MCU heroes in the future, the universe in which First Steps will take place is like the superhero movie universe before the MCU, where they’re the only heroes. "We are our own universe.
Which is wonderful and liberating,” Matt said in an interview. “There's really no [other] superheroes. There's no Easter eggs.
There's no running into Iron Man or whatever.” He continued, “They're it, in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different.
Eventually, this world will meet up with other worlds — but for now, this is our own little corner." It’s already been confirmed that The Fantastic Four will cross paths with the MCU’s timeline om Avengers: Doomsday as the movie will see heroes connect with The Avengers, the X-Men, the Wakandans, and the Thunderbolts in the fight against Doctor Doom. Therefore, the Fantastic Four will be akin to the Guardians of the Galaxy during the Infinity Saga amid their cosmic set story, keeping them far removed from the MCU story at large until Avengers: Infinity War.
Paul Walter Hauser, who will appear in First Steps in an unconfirmed role, even acknowledged how First Steps and the Guardians of the Galaxy will transform the MCU comparatively. Though many are championing the featuring of 1960s-inspired cameos of the X-Men and The Avengers in the First Steps, it’s probably best to focus on the titular team. The movie marks the Fantastic Four’s long-awaited introduction to the MCU, and, being that there have been multiple failed live-action films, the First Steps need to make a great impression.
According to MovieWeb, “Setting them up as the sole heroes of their universe and up against a threat like Galactus will be a great demonstration of just how great they are as a team. Marvel is rightfully emphasizing making sure the audience loves The Fantastic Four over cameos and Easter eggs.” Click here to follow the Mirror US on Google News to stay up to date with all the latest news, sport and entertainment stories.
