Alabama's Gymnastics Team received a warm sendoff Tuesday, as they set their sights on the NCAA Championship. Fans, cheerleaders and band members gathered outside the Tuscaloosa National Airport to celebrate the athletes as they left for Fort Worth, Texas. WVTM 13's Emma Owen spoke with head coach Ashley Johnston and associate head coach Justin Spring during the sendoff.

Both said these gymnasts have fought to get to this point. "They have worked incredibly hard this season, have gone through highs, have gone through challenges and overall have shown that they have such a fight, such a grit, such a determination for going after their goals," Johnston said. Spring said even though this season wasn't perfect, it hasn't stopped these athletes from giving their all.

"They didn't let that spiral in any other direction other than firing them up back in the gym every day, digging deeper and doing the work," Spring said. "For that reason, I absolutely love the story of this team right now. They kind of climbed out of a mid-season hole and are the best they've ever looked.
