In the season three finale of The White Lotus, Carrie Coon's character gave an emotional speech which many thought was worthy of an Emmy.

Fans were in awe of the speech that Carrie Coon gave as her character Laurie on The White Lotus Season three finale . The season three finale of the hit HBO show aired on Sunday, April 6. As a few characters met their demise, there was also a resolution for others, which included the toxic friend trio .

Throughout the season and before the finale, the friend trio that is Jaclyn ( Michelle Monaghan ), Laurie, and Kate (Leslie Bibb) is problematic and had viewers wondering if the ladies even really liked each other. Viewers witnessed a lot of the ups and downs of their friendship, and the friendship particularly came to a head when Laurie found out about Jaclyn sleeping with the hotel worker and health mentor Valentin (Arnas Fedaravičius) whom she had been pushing Laurie to hook up with. This does lead to a tense dinner where the ladies take digs at each other and call each other out.

Laurie ended up leaving the tense dinner to go watch Muay Thai with Valentin and his friends. In episode eight, there is still tension and awkwardness lingering in the friendship. It wasn't until they had their final dinner at the hotel that viewers see the status of their relationship.

Both Kate and Jaclyn went on positively about their Thailand vacation, but Laurie was candid about the fact that she has been "so sad" this week and had high expectations. This launched into a monologue that seemed to show how much Laurie valued her friendship with Jaclyn and Kate despite the problems within their relationship. " I feel like when you get older, you have to justify your life and your choices," She said.

" When I am with you guys, it's so like transparent what my choices were and my mistakes." "I have no belief system, and I mean, I've had a lot of them, but I mean, work was my religion for forever, but I definitely lost my belief there, and then I tried love, and that was just a painful religion that made everything worse. And then even for me, just like being a mother that didn't save me either," Laurie continued.

"But I had this epiphany today: I don't need religion or God to give my life meaning because time gives it meaning. We started this life together. I mean, we are going through it apart, but we're still together, and I look at you guys, and it feels meaningful," she added.

"And I can't explain it, but even when we are just sitting around the pool talking about whatever inane s--t, it still feels very f-----g deep," the lawyer concluded. She then turned to Jaclyn to say she is glad she has a "beautiful face" as well as told Kate that she is glad that she has a "beautiful life" and just stated how she's "just happy to be at the table." Both Jaclyn and Kate were teary-eyed after Laurie's speech, and both told her they loved her, which Laurie repeated back at them.

Fans on X, formerly Twitter, were moved by Laurie's speech and praised Carrie for her performance. They declared that The Gilded Age actress should get an Emmy for that monologue. One fan wrote, "This monologue!!! Carrie Coon said 'give me that Emmy !!!!'" A second fan said, "I don't need religion or god to give my life meaning.

.. because time gives it meaning' is one of the greatest lines of dialogue ever written.
