It’s evident that there is a connection between the 2003 Daredevil film and the new Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again . One of the links is that both productions focus on the Marvel superhero Daredevil. As of late, Marvel fans have realized the two titles are linked to an award-winning early aughts HBO show.
On X, formerly Twitter , a Sopranos fan account noted the actor Rober Iler, who portrayed Tony Soprano’s (James Gandolfini) son AJ Soprano in The Sopranos, had a scene in the 2003 Daredevil as Bully #1. However, Michael Gandolfini, the real-life son of the late James Gandolfini, stars in a major role in Daredevil: Born Again. In the series, Michael portrays the character Daniel Blake, a figure who though not present in the comics is a protégé of villain Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio).
Two episodes into the series and the antagonist Wilson has become a major of New York City and is taking on the role of Daniel’s advisor. Daniel has desires to manage Hell’s Kitchen’s criminal underbelly. It was also spotlighted on X that actor Vondie Curtis-Hall, who also had a role in The Sopranos, played Ben Urich in the Daredevil movie.
On Reddit, some fans noted that director Phil Abraham, who worked on episodes 1 and 2 of the Netflix show, was a camera operator on The Sopranos. "I guess if you're looking for a heavy set Italian American mafioso-style guy, the choices are surprisingly limited," one joked online, as another commented: "Colin Farrell played Bullseye in 2003 movie and Deidre O'Connell played Foggy's mom in the Netflix show. Colin Farrell now plays the Penguin and Deidre now plays Penguin's mother, which is also crazy.
" Someone else mentioned: "The Soprano/Daredevil universe is ever expanding.” Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney Plus. A synopsis for the show reads: “In Marvel Television’s 'Daredevil: Born Again', Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York.
When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.” DAILY NEWSLETTER: Sign up here to get the latest news and updates from the Mirror US straight to your inbox with our FREE newsletter..
