With a prime opportunity to silence doubters across college football on Saturday, James Franklin and his No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions again fell short against a top team. Penn State welcomed the No.
4 Ohio State Buckeyes to Beaver Stadium in Week 10, and despite getting out to an early 10-0 lead thanks to a Will Howard pick-six, they ended up scoring just three more points the rest of the game. As for Ohio State, the offense was able to calm down and help lead the team to a 20-13 win. While the loss doesn't necessarily eliminate Penn State from Big Ten title contention or the College Football Playoff race, it did add to the case that Franklin-coached teams cannot win the biggest games on its schedule.

To add more salt to the wound, the team also can't take advantage of one of the best home-field advantages in college football as they fell to 1-7 against top 10 teams at home. Luckily for Penn State, just one of its final three opponents currently has a record above .500, so they shouldn't really be challenged the rest of the way.
