A Minecraft Movie’s “chicken jockey” trend has been taken to another level with a live chicken, but the director says it’s “hilarious.”

One fan has taken the “chicken jockey” trend from A Minecraft Movie to another level: they brought an actual chicken to a screening, and the place went wild. Audiences have been losing their minds over A Minecraft Movie. Specifically, there’s one scene with Jack Black’s Steve and Jason Momoa’s Garrett where a cuboid Minecraft chicken ridden by a baby zombie drops into a boxing ring.

When Steve says “chicken jockey”, not only have viewers been screaming it out loud, but they’ve been throwing massive bags of popcorn across the room and lobbing their cups of soda. It’s getting out of hand, to the point one theater called the police and another chain announced a special one-time “chicken jockey” screening to let fans go nuts. The lights come on soon after, and we see them making a hasty escape before they’re caught. As ridiculous as the clip is, people aren’t amused.

“This is when a funny trend goes too far, it’s always one person that steps over the line and influences everyone else, don’t throw popcorn around and don’t for the love of god take a chicken to the theater,” one user tweeted. pic.twitter.

A Minecraft Movie director addresses “chicken jockey” meme With so much footage of crowds reacting to the “chicken jockey” moment (and one theater in New Zealand even banning unaccompanied kids), EW asked the movie’s director, Jared Hess, what he thinks about the meme. “It’s been so bananas.

It’s been way too fun. People are sending me these really hilarious speeches that a lot of teenagers are giving right before the movie. It’s so hysterical, man.

I’m staying up way too late,” he said. “It’s weird when you’re having too much fun and the cops get called. It’s funny because I think it’s just literally cheering and throwing popcorn, which is so funny to me that cops are getting called for popcorn.

“Yeah, it’s hilarious. I’ve seen so many funny videos. It’s great, especially when people are climbing on their friends’ shoulders and standing up and cheering for those moments.

It’s like this crazy anticipation. But, man, I’m just glad people are making memories with their friends and families.” In the meantime, find out what one of the Minecraft Movie producers said about its Herobrine reference , and make sure you know where A Minecraft Movie will be streaming and how much it needs to make at the box office .
