A Famous Five actor has released his debut novel after surviving a stroke. Marcus Harris, who played Julian in the 1978 and 1979 ITV adaptation of the Enid Blyton stories, which were partially filmed in the New Forest, wrote "Running Away" after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke two years ago. The actor, who is now the chief executive of Incite Insight, said he was "half an hour away from being dead" and was given a "two and a half per cent chance of walking out of the hospital.

" He said: "Because she got me into the hospital and on the operating table within an hour of me hitting the bedroom floor and the ambulance drivers and the amazing hospital staff I made a full recovery. "I laid there in my hospital bed and thought back to the Famous Five, my QVC presenting days, the amazing events that I MC for and other things I do. "I realised that there were two things left undone in my life.

"One was to catch a bus from John o' Groats in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall. "The other thing was to write a novel." "JT's life is out of control," says Marcus.

"Mounting debts, damaged relationships and a very real threat to his life. "Every day he fantasizes about running away from the pressure. "He dreams of escaping life.

"One day, those pressures become crippling and he takes action! "He simply can't continue any more and so, he stays on the train, leaving his past behind in one stroke. "This snap decision sends him to Cornwall, where he dreams of a freedom that takes him away from his stressful life to a rural paradise. "But even in paradise, his nemeses can find him.

"He can't hide, he can't run, his only choice is to clear his name and save his life. "No easy feat when you have given up your identity and scratching a cash in hand living. "Will his troubled past prevent him from achieving happiness and gaining that freedom he so desires?" The former mayor of Wallingford's thriller novel Running Away is published by Vanguard Press.
