BY JOMELEEN PARI Family of a 20-year-old boy who was severely wounded two weeks ago at the Raintree market at Badili, Port Moresby, are still awaiting compensation. Parents of victim Pidi Sale, Boio Sale (mother) who is from Kerema, and Audi Sale (father) from Western, presented themselves at the Boroko Police Station yesterday with their sons’ medical report to file their case against the attacker and his family to pay compensation towards the victim after no form of recompense was paid when the matter was reported. According to his mother, Pidi was stabbed with a knife across the face and several times on the arm resulting in skull fractures and several arm wounds.

Pidi was admitted to Port Moresby General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for three days as a result of the severe stabbing. After being in the hospital for two weeks, he was released on Sunday to go home. The family understands that the attacker, Alupmi (surname unknown) from Tari, is someone living with mental disorder, hence, they are calling on his family to compensate on his behalf for his wilful actions on the innocent victim.

In the meantime, the attacker is being held at the Boroko Police Station pending decisions from the authorities..
